Parasailing, or extreme parachute flight behind a motorboat – what does it look like in practice?

You can ride a motorboat on the sea, or jump in the mountains with a paraglider. But why not combine the two? Float above the waters while being pulled by a hydrofoil?

The vacations have started and everyone is looking for ways to use these warm days in some interesting way. The temperature is getting warmer, so some fun activities have to wait until the evening. Parasailing, on the other hand, fulfills all categories, and will be an unforgettable experience!

What is parasailing all about?

This sport originated in the West, where tourists, bored with the constant flipping of meat on the grill, decided to exert themselves creatively. A parachute is attached to a motorboat, very often a paraglider for safety and comfort, and then everything goes into motion. This allows those flying to sit comfortably and enjoy the scenery while experiencing the adrenaline rush. Of course, we are talking about the sea version, but the sport can be practiced over other bodies of water, as well as over land.

Is parasailing safe?

It is considered a safe sport. This is because in order to go on an aerial cruise, strict criteria must be met that offset the risk of danger. These include such factors as:

  • The person responsible for “towing” the parachute must have a special license.
  • The paraglider itself must be adjusted accordingly.
  • Its design prevents the motorboat from sudden and sharp changes of course.
  • It can be flown only in clear weather.
  • You can ascend to about 40-60 meters.
  • The flight is an average of 10 minutes.
  • Always wear life jackets.

Are there any contraindications?

Given that the sport takes place in the air, it would be a good idea not to suffer from a fear of heights – unless you are a daredevil who likes to push your own limits. On the other hand, it is forbidden for children under the age of six to participate in parasailing; those older can, provided they fly with a guardian. Another issue is weight: as a rule, the limit point is 110 kilograms, admittedly, sometimes there are companies organizing a flight up to 200 kilograms per person, however, these are rather marginal cases.

How much does parasailing cost?

It is not easy to determine a single amount that will suit every country if only in Europe. This is influenced by the economic situation of the country, the immediate location of the resort, etc. Issues such as inflation and pandemics also have their say. However, one can venture to say that usually prices range from 35 $ to 70 $.
